How to perform it
- 01 Stand with your feet hip-width apart. Hold a barbell or dumbbells in front of your thighs with an overhand grip.
- 02 Keep your shoulders relaxed and back straight. Engage your core to maintain stability.
- 03 Slightly bend your knees while keeping your hips pushed back. Lower the weights by hinging at the hips, not squatting.
- 04 Maintain a flat back as you lower the weights, keeping them close to your body. Lower until you feel a stretch in your hamstrings, typically around mid-shin level.
- 05 Pause briefly at the bottom of the movement.
- 06 Push through your heels and squeeze your glutes to lift the weights back up. Keep your back straight as you return to the starting position.
- 07 Repeat for the desired number of repetitions, maintaining control throughout the movement.
