How to perform it
- 01 Set the thigh pad so your legs are locked snugly under it with your feet flat on the floor.
- 02 Grip the bar wider than shoulder-width with your palms facing away, arms straight.
- 03 Sit tall, then lean your torso back very slightly and set a small arch in your lower back.
- 04 Pull your shoulder blades down first, then drive your elbows down and back to bring the bar to your upper chest.
- 05 Squeeze at the bottom, keeping your chest lifted toward the bar.
- 06 Let the bar rise under control until your arms are straight and your shoulder blades lift — do not swing your torso.
